Paid Study For Individuals With Multiple Sclerosis

Research Study for Individuals with Multiple Sclerosis at Penn State, University Park

Researchers at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park are studying the effect of depression on the brain, thinking skills, and emotional functioning in individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS). In order to do this, we are looking to recruit individuals who have MS but NO history of depression. The information gained from this study will help us understand whether the brains and functioning of individuals with depression and MS are different from individuals with MS but no history of depression.

You may be eligible of the study if:
1. You are between 18 and 65 years of age
2. You have a confirmed diagnosis of multiple sclerosis
3. You have NO history of depression, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia
4. You are fluent in English
5. You are able to travel to State College, PA for the session
6. You are able to undergo an MRI

Briefly, participation involves first undergoing a telephone screen to determine eligibility. If eligible, you will be asked to travel to the Penn State campus in State College, PA to undergoing a clinical interview, questionnaires, cognitive testing, and MRI scan, and a saliva swab for DNA. The session will take 6-7 hours.

In appreciation of time spent and participation in the study participants will receive $100.
